Dr. Sean Fullerton is an Assistant Professor of Physical Education Teacher Education in the College of Health Professions at Towson University. He completed his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science at Western Oregon University, a master’s in education from Portland State University, and a doctorate in Physical Education, Sports and Exercise Science at the University of New Mexico. Sean has a background in sports as both an athlete and coach, in addition to five years as a secondary physical educator. His areas of focus include sport pedagogy, curriculum design, motivation in sport and physical activity, and technology use for teaching and learning. Sean is also a certified strength & conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the National Association of Strength & Conditioning and has published and presented for the Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE) on the topics of resistance training content knowledge and pedagogy.
As a result of his teaching excellence, Sean received the Susan-Deese Roberts Outstanding Teaching Assistant in 2022 while at the University of New Mexico. In addition to teaching a wide range of undergraduate courses and helping prepare teachers and coaches, he has delivered professional development workshops on social-emotional learning, comprehensive school physical activity programming, and technology. Sean continues to engage in community service through Janus Youth Programs, as a mentor and volunteer working with incarcerated youth.
