Timothy D. Davis, Ph.D., is an associate professor in the Physical Education Department at State University of New York at Cortland. He earned a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degree in physical education/Adapted Physical Education from California State University at Chico and a PhD in Adapted Physical Education/Early Childhood Special Education from the University of Virginia. He has been teaching in the field of Adapted Physical Education for over thirty years and is a member of the educational board for the international organization known as Inclusion Matters. He is also the senior consultant for Fit and Fun Playscapes.
Dr. Davis is the Executive Director of the Adapted Physical Education National Standards (APENS) program which oversees the national standards and certification process for Adapted Physical Education and is sponsored by the National Consortium on Physical Education and Recreation for Individuals with Disabilities (NCPEID). Dr. Davis is the director of the SUNY Cortland Sensory Integration Motor Sensory and Multi-Sensory Environment (SIMS/MSE) Lab. The SIMS/MSE lab conducts services and research dedicated to addressing the interdisciplinary needs of children with sensory processing disorders and Autism. He is the 2020 recipient of the SUNY Cortland Award for Excellence in Service and holds the SUNY Chancellors Award for Distinguished Service for 2021.
